“The Spartans of Ancient Greece were gymnasts too … Did you know that” “Nobody can make a vertical leap over four or five feet tops. I’m not going to quote the entire scene, but I am going to spotlight some of the dialogue.ĭan started to pry. He’s trying to figure out how he got on top of the building. In this scene, Dan is at the gas station talking to Socrates while Soc is pumping gas for a customer. Knowledge is different from wisdom…Wisdom is Doing! When he turned around, Soc was on top of the building. He turns back around and takes a few more steps. In one of the opening scenes, Dan goes to a gas station and as he is leaving he turns to see Socrates, or Soc for short, sitting on a bench. I got about 2 pages of stuff to share so I hope you like it! It took me a while because there were times I had to pause and skip back on the DVD. But, I couldn’t remember all of them so I sat down this time and with pen and paper and wrote almost all of them down so I can share them.

To be honest, after watching a scene from it last night on youtube I realized there are many lessons derived out of the quotes in this movie and wanted to share some of them with you. I have watched this movie so many times I almost have the entire thing memorized. Just a brief description of the movie(pretty good huh? I should do this for a living! …lol jk)

Ok so there isĪ college gymnast “Dan Milman” (Mechlowicz) loses everything in a motorcycle accident and follows the teachings of a full-service gas station attendant “Socrates”(Nolte) to find peace within himself. This is a very inspiring movie starring Nick Nolte(48 Hours, Blue Chips), Amy Smart(The Butterfly Effect, Varsity Blues) and Scott Mechlowicz(Eurotrip ). While it didn’t go big at the box office, I believe it is easily in my top 25 movies of all time. The Peaceful Warrior quotes I’m going to be sharing with you are my personal favorites and believe EVERYONE should know the lessons I’ve learned from them. But, unlike the other hundred times, I watched it… I took notes of all the one line lessons delivered in this movie and boy was it a huge list. Its heart is very much in the right place - a place that movies all but ignore - but its mind is a mush. So, I sat down and watched “Peaceful Warrior ” a Lionsgate Films Production. Whether or not one thinks of this while observing the intense eroticism of the film and its gawking display of sweating, half-nude teenagers, knowing about it insinuates a queasy frisson to the themes of mentorship and initiation, with their appeal for trust and relinquishing control.īut there I go letting ego cloud my mind, when the seminal fact of “Peaceful Warrior” is that for all its manifest corniness, this is an achingly sincere and supremely unembarrassed effort to transform an audience for the good. Mindlessly espousing principles of “no mind” and evidently capable of teleportation, this gravel-voiced fortune cookie suggests the missing link between Grizzly Adams and Yoda.īased on a best-selling book by Dan Millman, this rich slice of spiritualist cheese has been served up on screen by the director Victor Salva, best known to audiences for his “Jeepers Creepers” horror movies, and perhaps best known to authorities in California as a man who served time in prison in the 1980’s for molesting a 12-year-old boy who had appeared in his movies. A didactic enlightenment parable couched as a heroic sports flick, the film stars Scott Mechlowicz as Millman, an arrogant gymnast in Berkeley, Calif., who is learning New Age life lessons from a pseudo-Buddhist gas station guru played by Nick Nolte.

Starting with the title and extending everywhere else, “Peaceful Warrior” is blatantly ludicrous.
